FREQUENTLY  ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT IS THE PERSON CENTRED APPROACH?

The Person Centred Approach is a non-directive, humanistic, phenomenological, therapy. This means it is about you, and your experiences, you direct the sessions and together we work through what it is you bring into the space. I am here to listen and help you make sense of what it is you would like to process, in a safe and secure space.

DO YOU OFFER CONCESSIONS?

Yes, I offer concessions to students and people on a low income, with sessions starting from £30. Please ask about concessions when booking.

HOW LONG DOES THERAPY TAKE?

Each therapy sessions last for 50 minutes and are held weekly. The duration of a course of therapy is usually 6-8 weeks long. However, longer term work is also provided if it is beneficial to you. Longer term work extends beyond 8 weeks.

ARE SESSIONS CONFIDENTIAL?

Yes, everything you bring into therapy is kept confidential. I will not share your personal information with anyone else unless it is necessary to keep you and others safe or required by a court of law. Where possible this will be discussed with you first. During training, and supervision meetings, I will discuss my client work where appropriate. When this happens, any identifying details about you are kept private so confidentiality is not breached.

CAN I CONTACT MY THERAPIST OUTSIDE OF SESSIONS?

Yes, you can contact me using, email, text or telephone to book, rearrange, or cancel appointments. Your therapy work can not be discussed outside of sessions via email, text or telephone. If you are experiencing crisis outside of sessions and need immediate help contact, the emergency services, your GP, friends, family or helplines. Helpline telephone numbers can be found on the Resources page. 

IS THERE A CANCELLATION FEE?

Sessions can be cancelled at no cost up to 48 hours in advance. After this time a cancellation fee will be charged. The cancellation fee is half of what you pay for your therapy.

HOW DO I PAY FOR SESSIONS?

Payment can be sent via bank transfer before your appointment, or can be paid in cash on the day. Details of this are provided when you book your first session.

DO YOU KEEP NOTES?

I keep brief content notes and these records are stored securely and are kept for 7 years from the end of therapy.  You are free to request sight of these notes if you wish. I am committed to protecting your rights and privacy in accordance with GDPR. As such, I am registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
